Leon Edgington Morales Car Accident Perris CA: The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified a three-month-old infant who tragically lost their life following a multi-vehicle crash on the 215 Freeway in Riverside on Sunday evening. The child has been named as Leon Edgington Morales of Perris, whose death has brought deep sorrow to the community.

The collision was reported just before 7:40 p.m. on the northbound lanes near Eucalyptus Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Emergency responders from the Riverside City Fire Department arrived quickly at the scene and transported a pediatric patient—later identified as Morales—to a nearby trauma center. Despite their efforts, the infant was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

In addition to Morales, four other individuals were injured in the crash, including another infant. Authorities stated that the driver of a Toyota sustained moderate injuries, while the driver of a Nissan suffered major injuries. A woman and a child traveling in the Nissan also experienced minor to moderate injuries. Morales had been a passenger in the Nissan at the time of the collision.

Initial reports suggested the incident involved a single-vehicle rollover, but investigators later confirmed that three vehicles were involved. According to CHP, a silver Honda Civic had come to a stop in the number one lane of the freeway. A silver Nissan Versa traveling behind it collided with the Honda, and a grey Toyota RAV4 then struck the rear of the Nissan.

The reason the Honda stopped in the roadway remains unclear. Its driver and passenger reported pain but did not require hospitalization. Authorities have stated that impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash.

Emergency crews also extricated one adult from a vehicle using hydraulic tools, and animal control officers responded to care for a dog found inside one of the cars. The investigation remains ongoing.
